Yulia Samusenko, CTB:
Marina Tretyakova is the only woman conductor of a symphony orchestra in our country. How did this fragile lady achieve success and take her place of honor in this difficult profession?
The female conductor is truly exotic. Men in this profession deserve recognition much faster and easier. And those girls who, nevertheless, choose such a creative path, are forced to stumble over the stereotypes of society. Someone from the pressure of others is losing ground already at first, while someone, like young Marina many years ago, only hardens and boldly goes towards a dream.
Marina Tretyakova, conductor of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater:
When I entered the conservatory, there were doubts among the people who accepted me. The profession is difficult, because you are a leader, you are a creative person, you are an emotional person, but nevertheless, you should not be bazaar. You must have an iron will.
Elena Antipovich, director of the Sonorus Music Capella:
With a strong character, that is why she was able to become a conductor. She makes very varied and interesting programs, ranging from classics to contemporary hits programs.
Marina Tretyakova was born in Gomel, where she graduated from the Sokolovsky Music School and College with a degree in Choral Conducting, then the Conservatory. And then she received her diploma and, by chance, left for Kherson. It was there that fate prepared the first real trials for her: non-stop work in the musical and drama theater and merciless poverty. Despite all the difficulties, it was this harsh period that set the rhythm of Marina Nikolaevna's whole life.
Marina Tretyakova:
There I was offered to try myself as an orchestral conductor, I did not immediately agree. Then, of course, I realized that I don't know a lot of things and, naturally, I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge of this area.
But persistence did not allow her to retreat, Marina fell more and more in love with conducting and made progress. Despite the fact that Kherson's career went uphill, there was no longer the strength to endure hunger and work for an idea. She returned to her homeland again, but did not lose her attraction to creativity: she entered the conservatory to continue her education as a conductor.
Nina Sharubina, People's Artist of Belarus, soloist of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus:
I have known Marina for a very long time, since my studies at the Academy of Music. I just admire a woman conductor, because keeping such a team with my energy and knowledge is hard work.
Sergei Mikel, choreographer of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater:
She is completely professional in her work. I love the fact that she is light on her feet. When I proposed to her an unknown topic for ballet, she accepted it completely calmly, without criticism.
Now a lady with a strong character has time to do everything: work three jobs, maintain harmony in the family, do yoga and live every day paired with music. To earn the title of the only woman conductor in Belarus, Marina Tretyakova had to go a long thorny path, step over all the prejudices of people, but still prove that talent does not depend on gender.
